Guest artists included Ted Egan, McAlister Kemp, The Bobkatz, Amber Lawrence, 8 Ball Aitken, Kaylee Bell, Graham Rodger, Ernie Constance and Anne Kirkpatrick with a tribute to Joy McKean.

I was happy to see my old mate Allan Caswell pick up a couple of awards including Country Song of The Year and Tamworth based photographer June Underwood was recognized with the Tex Morton Award.

Doug Bruce & The Tailgaters – Tamworth bound for their no charge, no bull shows

One time Texan Doug Bruce now calls Bendigo home. The former drummer hasn’t looked back since he stepped up to the mic to front his band The Tailgaters. They created quite a buzz at the Festival last year and are set to blow them away again this year with their full-on, no-excuses country shows at The Central Hotel and Fitzroy Tavern. With songs from Doug’s highly acclaimed new album, A Good Place, and a number of catchy new covers added to the set list, these shows will not disappoint.

“We’ve changed up the show quite a bit since last year so the punters can look forward to something new. But one thing hasn’t changed – we still, and always will, play real country music, with no excuses!” says front man, Doug Bruce.

Welcome to Tamworth Nia & Janine wishes she was here

The Tamworth Festival means different things to different people. Nia Robertson is a first time visitor – she sends us a message while packing for her first ever visit and will do reports later in the festival. Janine Le Clair has visited the Festival several times in the past but won’t be there this year.

Katrina’s first visit  to Tamworth

“I was about 14 years old and had the opportunity of performing with a local band at the old RSL. That night Kasey Chambers and Troy Cesar Daley were playing in the park for free but being committed to taking every opportunity to sing I missed out on their show.”

“I sat in the dressing room for what felt like hours till it was my turn to get up and perform. The band introduced me “Here is 14 year old Katrina Burgoyne”. I was tuned up, pumped up and ready to go out on stage but then the security came running over and said, “she can’t play here she’s underage”.
