The Tamworth Festival means different things to different people. Nia Robertson is a first time visitor – she sends us a message while packing for her first ever visit and will do reports later in the festival. Janine Le Clair has visited the Festival several times in the past but won’t be there this year.
“Merchandise…check! Guitar…check! Clothes…..I still have no idea what to take…but I have packed the bling bling and the hair straightener, and I think I’ve got about 10 pairs of shoes ready to pack…I wonder if that’s that too many?
“I’m so excited about traveling to Tamworth tomorrow – we’re driving up during the night and hope to get there by lunchtime on Wednesday! Thirteen hours in the car with Billy (my guitarist), Cherri (the wonderful merchandiser) and the golden tonsils of Casey-FM – Roger Lloyd! What on earth have I let myself in for? Oh well, I guess the video player will get quite a work out.”
“First stop Wednesday will be the hotel for a quick bite and a spruce up…then I am VERY excited about Rose Carleo’s album launch on Wednesday afternoon – 4pm at the Courthouse Hotel. After that I’ll take a quick look around and decide where to next…Billy is pretty handy with the camera so we’ll take some pictures to share too – am going to see how many famous people I can get my picture taken with!”
“I’ve looked forward to my first Tamworth Country Music Festival almost my entire life…..I can’t wait to share it with you!”

“As a Canadian-born, but now Aussie Citizen, I was very proud to be part of the Tamworth Country Music Festival which I participated in for several years.
Being a grad of the CMAA College of Country Music gave me the greatest kick off to my first Tamworth Festival in 2002; I was on a high! The following year I was a finalist in the Star Maker Competition and again; had an absolute blast. Some of the musicians, artists and fans I met during Tamworth are still a big part of my life today; even as I’m now based overseas, signed to SSM Nashville Records & Publishing in Nashville, USA. A few of those fans who live in North America, now also make their way to Nashville’s Country Music Festival to see me perform, the same way they did during Tamworth shows. Many fellow artists from Tamworth Festival’s I’ve seen in Nashville, touring, writing, and performing. A couple of years ago, I hosted an all Australian spotlight in Nashville and was so honoured to have dozens of Aussies perform on it! Now there’s the truth in “Country music bringing people together!” And I’m so grateful for all of those international connections; plenty of which began for me in Tamworth!”
“Though the mecca of country music is pretty grand here in Nashville and its ‘go, go, go’ all the time, I miss the special camaraderie of Tamworth and how its all put together. And especially at this time of year, I find myself missing the Tamworth heat!! I LOVED the promise of high temps at January’s Tamworth Festival and how there was no escaping it!! As a girl, it made outfits so much easier to chose and there was no sense even attempting to wear make-up as it would melt off!!”
“Though I’m currently overseas, I plan on getting back to the Tamworth festival as fast as I can, as its one of the most unique events Country Music has to offer on the planet! Australia should be very proud of that!”
“I wish my best to all the Golden Guitar nominations this year. I’m especially thrilled to see Diana Corcoran’s nominations!! I knew her single “Thank you for cheating on me” was excellent the first time I heard her perform it in Nashville last year!”
“Have the BEST Tamworth Festival! Wish I were there!!”
